August Macke's "Saint Germain at Tunis" porcelain plate. Rare limited edition
"St Germain bei Tunis" collectors plate, with its certificate of authenticity.
August Robert Ludwig Macke (3 January 1887 – 26 September 1914) was a German
Expressionist painter. He was one of the leading members of the German
Expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider).
The exotic atmosphere of Tunisia, where Macke travelled in April 1914 with
Paul Klee and Louis Moilliet was fundamental for the creation of the luminist
approach of his final period, during which he produced a series of works now
considered masterpieces. The original painting was created in 1914 on the Tunis
trip.
This collectors plate is number 3054 in a limited edition of 29000 worldwide,
produced by Rosenthal Classic and Bradex. It is in perfect condition and comes
with its certificate of authenticity.
